FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia Receives Generous Donation From Fifth Annual Yuletide Jam Event.
Savannah, GA – Tuesday May 14, 2013. The Yuletide Jam team announced today that their 2012 music event in memory of Patrick Williams raised a total of $20,000 for the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. The grant will be presented on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Tubby’s Tankhouse in Thunderbolt, GA. These funds will provide 100,000 meals to those in our community that go hungry without the help of our regional food banks.
The fifth edition of this annual fundraiser consisted of a 14 hour music marathon comprised of local and regional Georgia musical talent as well as children’s activities and a silent auction under the stewardship of the Live Oak’s Restaurant Group at Tubby’s Tankhouse in Thunderbolt.
“Yuletide Jam has been a generous long-term fundraiser of the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia organization. We are grateful to them for helping us reach more families in need and keeping more children from being hungry” said Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia’s Executive Director Mary Jane Crouch.
"My deepest gratitude goes out to all of our talented musicians, our amazing team of organizers, our dedicated corporate sponsors and especially to Anna Jackson and Ansley Williams who in Patrick's memory have given so much in time, talent, location and resources to the benefit of this cause. Building on the success of our 2012 Yuletide Jam event we hope to continue to reach an even higher level of fundraising each year and also raise community awareness of the mission of Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia." said Yuletide Jam Director, Musician, and Celia Dunn Sotheby’s real estate agent, Stewart Marshall.
“I am so pleased that the 2012 Yuletide Jam was once again a success for our community and Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia,” said Tripp Turner, Chief Operating Officer at J.T. Turner Construction and Yuletide Jam Director. “As a board member and active supporter of Second Harvest, I cannot think of a more fitting beneficiary for this community event held each year in memory of my childhood best friend Patrick Williams. The strong commitment of the organizing team, the community support, and the dedication of our volunteers are a reminder of our community’s commitment to give back to those in need.”
Anna Jackson, Director of Community Relations for the Live Oak Restaurant Group stated "We were proud to once again host this event at Tubby's Tank House in Thunderbolt. To celebrate Patrick's life by giving back to the community he so loved, is a wonderful way for his family, myself, and his Live Oak friends and fellow musicians to honor him. With the event surrounded in local music, local food, and open to all of Savannah just confirms that we are indeed a strong community that takes care of each other, and we certainly know how to have a good time doing it! We are very much looking forward to this year’s event in December."
The Sixth Annual Yuletide Jam event has been scheduled to take place Friday December 13, 2013 at Tubby’s Tankhouse in Thunderbolt, GA.
About Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia
Established in Savannah in 1981, serves as the food safety net for tens of thousands of children, senior citizens, low-income families, and people with disabilities who are at-risk for hunger throughout southeastern Georgia. We work diligently to feed the hungry by distributing nutritious food to non-profit agencies and at-risk elderly and youth. Our programs include Brown Bag for the Elderly, Culinary Arts at Grace’s Kitchen, Kids Cafe, and Mobile Food Pantry. These programs are designed to provide hunger relief to those most vulnerable. We partner with 300 churches and non-profit agencies to provide emergency food assistance across Coastal Georgia. Last year, Second Harvest food bank provided more than 8.1 million meals (more than 9.6 million pounds of food) to hungry people in our area. Support from the community and collaboration with partners make it possible for us to reach so many in need right here in our own community.
